January 1, 2012 - Resolution Run, Huntsville The Seven Hills Running Club had its largest club run ever, with 64 finishers, on New Year's Day. Turnout was boosted by the participation of several employees of Huntsville Memorial Hospital, including Sarah Raney, the first female finisher in the 5K, and by the participation of several running families, including the Schaub's, Dean, Tracy, Dyson, Davis, and Dylan, who all finished the 1 mile run together. Notable performances in the 5K were turned in by Pierce Primm, who neared a personal best, Matthew Heald, the youngest finisher at 5 years old, and Chuck Fabian, who completed his first 5K ever.

December 2 - Curtis Barton signed up for Rocky Raccoon 100-Miler. SHRC member, Curtis Barton of The Woodlands is signed up for the Rocky Raccoon 100-Miler trail run at Huntsville State Park on February 4, 2012. Curtis has completed one 50-mile run, but this will be his first 100. Karen Felicidario, Jan Parks and Ken Johnson are signed up for the 50-mile event. Karen finished the 100-mile race last year and Ken finished the 50. This will be Jan's first 50. Good luck to all. Both race are now sold out.

SHRC member, John Slate, is set to run the Rouge to Orleans 126-mile ultramarathon this weekend. The race starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4, in Baton Rouge and goes 126 miles to New Orleans. The race ends at 8 a.m. on Sunday. John has completed 81 marathons or longer, to include a 100-miler. Good luck, John.
